Cell for Women Studies and Development

The Cell for Women’s Studies and Development was established on 23rd May, 2009 with the assistance from  the Centre for Women’s Studies of the University of Dibrugarh, with the then Principal of the college as its President. The objectives of the Cell are to change the present social attitudes regarding women’s roles and rights  in all fields of life, and to sensitise people about gender discrimination, and to assist women to enjoy their rights within the family, community  The cell has been conducting awareness camps, seminar, symposia on women empowerment, domestic violence, superstition, social evils, pollution, health & hygeneity, status of ethnic women of nearby tribal communities etc.

The basic objectives of the cell are-

  • To work for gender equity.
  • To change the present social attitudes regarding women’s roles.
  • To create awareness among women about their Rights and Duties, various Policies and Acts of the Government related to women.
  • To create awareness about various burning problems of the society and their solution.
  • To assist women to enjoy their rights within the family, community and society.
